Ancient scriptures oils from Young Living - practical usage tips

Essential oils in ancient times were used for practical healing and deeply spiritual purposes. Essential oils were so much more than just nice scents- they were part of every day life for purification, protection and healing and everyday wellness. They were also part of the temple rituals to purify the temples, honour the gods and embalming the body to preserve it in the afterlife. Sacred oils were central to daily life and ritual. They served both practical and deeply spiritual purposes.

Young Livings commitment to sustainability

I felt inspired to write an updated blog about the ancient scripture oil set from Young Living since two oils are no longer available due to the inability to find a sustainable source of spikenard and galbanum. Although I miss these oils it shows the commitment of Young Living to sustainable and ethically grown and sourced oils for the greater good of the planet.

Let’s start with the 10 oils, which are Frankincense, Myrtle, Myrrh, Cedarwood, Cassia, Onchya, Hyssop, Sandalwood, Cypress and Rose of Sharon (Cistus).

Practical Application of the oils:

The oils in this kit can be used on its own or for its synergistically effect all 10 together. Please do NOT mix them in a blend together, but apply them one by one, we call this layering, waiting at least one minute in-between. In fact the oils only need about 20 seconds to be absorbed into the blood stream. Using a vegetable oils will slow down this process and sometimes that might be useful.

Raindrop Technique with the ancient scriptures oils

This is what one of my dear client used to say about the Raindrop with the Ancient scripture oils:

Claudia Hofmaier’ s subtle touch made me feeling the space between the particles of the my body. Her hands moving along the spine lightly and at the same time going through the bones together with the combination of oils gave me the impressions of having my body expanding way beyond the frontiers of my skin. One hour of these wonderful therapy left me in a state of total relaxation mixed with a feeling of joy and aliveness. I could say that the energetic vibrations of oils and Claudia’s loving presence make each cells of the body sing a beautiful healthy song, thank you!Dominque G

If you are not able to get a full raindrop from a practitioner, you can apply the oils yourself one by one on your feet!

The word “Anointment” means “an ointment”

“In Biblical times essential oils were often mixed in a vegetable oil base such as olive, flaxseed, walnut, sesame or almond. But vegetable oils alone were never used for anointing. In fact, the word “anointment” is literally “an ointment”. Biblical ointments were always composed of essential oils. “ Except from “The healing Oils of the Bible” by David Stewart

Frankincense (Boswellia Carteria)

Frankincense has been used historically for thousand of years. It was well known during the time of Christ for its healing and anointing powers and was used to treat every conceivable illness known. It was commonly used at birth and to anoit the newborn. Therefore it was part of the gifts given to Jesus Christ at birth (together with Myrrh and Balsam Fir (referred to as Gold in the bible) and it is still used by the catholic church on special days.

It was considered the most precious resin of Arabia, burned daily in homes, temples, and palaces for purification and devotion and the resin was chewed for its health benefits. It became the lifeblood of the Incense Route, elevating South Arabia into one of the richest trade centers of the ancient world.

It especially useful for women going through a right of passage such as menopause because it increases spiritual awareness, uplifts spirits and promotes peacefulness and the perception of new realities. It is mentioned in Chinese Medicine for its countless health benefits especially for women.

Frankincense is my super favourite essential oil and was the first oil I ordered besides the original Raindrop kit. I love its calming yet I had an amazing healing experience with this oil.

Know your frankincense as there are many different types

There are actually more then 10 different types of frankincense species and the one which is widely sold in the Souks is Boswelia Frereana. Although it has very little therapeutic value, it is expensive because it is so widely sought after in the perfume industry and the price is controlled. However despite claims from other companies it does NOT come from Oman. It doesnt grow there. It is very low in boswelia acid. Boswelia sacra and carteria contain boswelia acid.
